CLAAS Introduces The New ORBIS 600 & 750 Corn Heads For Non-Stop Harvesting
Posted by 2008 National Farm Machinery Show on 2/19/2008
During harvest, producers’ are bound to encounter a myriad of crop conditions that can pose unexpected challenges, potentially reducing anticipated harvest results. For high capacity harvesting no matter the conditions, CLAAS launches the new ORBIS 600 and 750 corn head providing optimal crop flow for an unbeatable harvest season.
Equipped with mechanical contour technology to follow the topography of the field, each model adjusts smoothly to field conditions while providing ideal lateral compensation. Rotation of the self-sharpening, carbide coated knives and large diameter gathering discs (four large diameter and two additional small diameter discs on the ORBIS 750) is precision at its best, allowing for safe transport of tall or short corn and gentle treatment of loose cobs to the feed rollers. The new turning direction of the two-center gathering discs aides in poor feeding conditions. In addition, the all new low maintenance header has long service intervals and was designed to have less wear parts to the save the end user money at the end of the year. All which improves crop flow and the bottom line, as work rates remain high.
The row independent ORBIS corn heads offer a 20’ (8 – 30†rows) working width with the ORBIS 600 and up to 25’ (10 – 30†rows) working widths with the ORBIS 750. Because of the power-saving efficiencies, fuel consumption is reduced while performance of the forage harvester is amplified. Plus, low-starting torque means unproblematic activation and reversing under full load capacity, making the ORBIS sleek and efficient.
“Simplicity in technology was a key factor in the development of the ORBIS corn heads,†explains Bob Armstrong, North America Product Marketing Manager. “With no auger, growers get better visibility of the crop flow and the new design gathers the crop quickly and efficiently. And, because of the proportionate weight distribution, the ORBIS 600 and ORBIS 750 aid in the reduction of loads placed on the axle.â€
A trouble-free harvest can now be accomplished as the ORBIS line up provides unmatched performance and time savings to the grower, making it a much more relaxing and efficient harvest.
CLAAS of America, Inc. offers a wide variety of technologically innovative hay tool, baler and self-propelled forage harvester products to provide growers optimum performance in the field. These products are designed by a dedicated engineering staff located at three different worldwide factories focused on the production and design of harvesting equipment. The design, performance and reliability of this equipment have made CLAAS an international market leader.
